Nancy Guthrie‘s neighbors are finding ways to publicly show support as the search continues for Savannah Guthrie‘s missing mother.
“It is important to show support for your neighbors,” one man told Today in a segment that aired on Friday, February 13, after showing off yellow ribbons tied around trees on his property. “Especially in a very trying time like this.”
A local flower shop is also fielding a rush of orders for yellow flowers, which signify hope and support. “We’re happy to be able to contribute,” an employee told Today. “If it brings any comfort or relief to the family, it’s nice to be able to be involved in that.”
The segment then showed footage of a sign outside a local TV station in Arizona which read, “Bring her home.” Members of the community were seen leaving messages to Nancy, 84, and her family.
“My heart breaks,” one woman said. “Everyone feels like they’re going through it with [Savannah]. We are with her.”
Hoda Kotb, who has been filling in for Savannah, 54, on the Today show throughout the ordeal, shared a similar message on Friday. “People want to do something. You feel helpless,” she said. “You want to show support and even [here in New York City], someone made a special sign. They are on the lips of every person outside when we go to say hello.”
Nancy was reported missing on February 1, one day after she was last seen in Arizona. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later noted that there were “concerning circumstances” found in Nancy’s home.

“She’s very alert, she’s of good, sound mind,” he told reporters, adding that Nancy is “not in good” physical health. “I hope we find her safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s in front of us.”
Savannah has been absent from Today amid her mother’s disappearance, previously sharing a statement from her family with the morning show on February 2.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the statement read. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”

While the investigation continues, several ransom letters were allegedly received by TMZ and local news outlets. A demand has also been made from an unknown sender claiming to have information on who took Nancy, offering to identify the suspect in exchange for 1 Bitcoin.
Savannah and her siblings, meanwhile, are holding out hope for Nancy’s safe return. “We believe our mom is still out there,” she said via Instagram on Monday, February 9. “We are in an hour of desperation.”
The FBI has since released photos and video footage of a subject outside of Nancy’s home. Additional details about the individual were revealed on Thursday, February 12, as authorities announced a new $100,000 reward for information that could help identify a potential suspect.
Later that day, Reuters reported there is a divide between local law enforcement and the FBI, who were allegedly blocked from accessing key evidence in the ongoing search. Nanos addressed the speculation while speaking with NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA, claiming the report was “not even close to the truth.”
“When this is all done with, offer your critiques all you want, but right now we have work to do,” the sheriff said.
