Dan Levy jokingly deflects ‘cute’ compliment with surprising JFK Jr. comparison

Dan Levy wasn’t taking any of Page Six’s nonsense when we asked him a “rhetorical question” on whether he “could be any cuter” at the Gotham Television Awards on Monday night.

“Absolutely, yes. You have John F. Kennedy Jr. walking this carpet at the moment,” he exclaimed, referring to the hunky Paul Anthony Kelly, who played the political scion in Ryan Murphy’s “Love Story” TV series.

“It’s a tough comparison,” Levy, 42, added, “but thank you for the compliment!”

He also wasn’t taking any of Page Six’s extended nonsense when we asked him what it’s like to be so beloved.

“What on earth are you talking about?” he laughingly shot back, before getting a little more serious.

“Listen, I won’t answer that, but I will say it’s very nice to have made some things that people really like,” the actor explained. “And it feels great to hear people come up to you on the street and tell you that the work that you’ve made has meant something to them.”

Levy co-created and co-starred in “Schitt’s Creek” with his father, Eugene Levy. The series, which ran from 2015 to 2020, was beloved by many during the COVID-19 lockdown, especially because of its sweet depiction of his character David’s relationship with Noah Reid, played by Patrick Brewer, culminating in their wedding.

The series won nine Emmys during its sixth and final season, breaking the record for the most wins by a comedy series in a single season.

The show also starred Catherine O’Hara, who died earlier this year.

Most recently, he co-created and stars in the Netflix series “Big Mistakes” with Rachel Sennott, in which they play hapless siblings blackmailed into working for gangsters.

Laurie Metcalf, who plays their mom, won the Gotham Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Comedy Series for her role.

The show has already been picked up for a second season.

Levy also explained his philosophy regarding his work.

“At the end of the day, everything I do, everything I put my effort into, I want to have a purpose behind it,” he shared. “Everything I do is intentional, the fact that it resonates with people? That’s the dream.”
